Celebrities suddenly maxed out? Find the explanation here!
We were receiving a lot of questions about this issue so we'd like to explain the reason why your celebrity may be maxed out:
The maximum number of levels a celebrity can reach is 10. Previously, celebrities kept gaining experience after 10, filling the xp bar, but they never reached level 11. This arose the issue where some of our players falsely lead to believe that they were unable to receive the rewards for the last level whereas they have already received their rewards for level 10 - it is the last level, there's no level 11.
We wanted to fix this misunderstanding by capping the xp gain when a celebrity reaches level 10.
Your celebrity was already at the maximum level, 10, with some additional xp points. Since we capped it, your celebrity is still at the maximum level, 10, without the additional xp points. Please let us clarify that there's no loss here, additional xp points does not provide any rewards or gains.
That is to say, this is not a bug if your celebrity was already at level 10.

Some of mine went upto level 11 today, others have gone down to level 1. 2 celebrites were also dark as though they had never visited my cafe.

After entering the game again, all level 11 have reverted to level 1. Gordon Ramsey is now blacked out as though he has never visited my cafe, plus one other character.
